Postdoctoral Associate

Advised by Dr. Paul Thomas, Haiming obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biostatistics from Department of Preventive Medicine at the University of Southern California.
He joined the lab in June 2017. Haiming is intrigued by the evolution of genes and their functions. His previous work involves the development of a new metric to utilize the evolutionary information in multiple sequence alignments to predict deleterious single nucleotide variants. As well as reconstruction of evolutionary history of gene gains and losses since the universal common ancestor.
His current work is on improving Evolutionary trace via incorporating more info from phylogenetic gene trees.
